Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Public Health and Health Science at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for Adjunct Faculty positions. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses and potential graduate courses within the Department of Public Health and Health Science. These part-time positions vary based on course offerings and demand.

General content areas for potential teaching include:

  • Epidemiology
  • Health Administration
  • Health Promotion and Program Planning
  • Public Health
  • Emergency Management

Applicants should clearly indicate their educational background, areas of professional expertise, teaching experience, and availability.

Ability to teach online or in hybrid formats is strongly preferred.

This is an instructional, temporary, exempt, contract faculty position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

For Undergraduate Courses:

  • Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Health Science, Epidemiology, Community Health, Health Administration, or a closely related field OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a closely related field and significant professional experience in Public Health Practice, Health Education, or Health Promotion
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

For Graduate Courses (if applicable):

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health, Health Promotion, Health Administration, or a related discipline OR
  • Master's degree in a related field and substantial relevant professional experience at the graduate or advanced practice level
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • All positions include prior university teaching experience and current professional engagement in the field of Public Health and Health Science.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Duties are generally performed inside a classroom environment, with occasional requirements to engage in administrative tasks outside the classroom.
  • All work associated with this position must be performed within the state of Michigan

Scheduled weekly hours vary depending on class contract load. Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.
