Registered Nurse (RN) - Part-Time
Sierra Valley Rehab Center - Porterville, CA
Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour (DOE)
Sierra Valley Rehab Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our nursing team. The RN is responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility and ensuring the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.
General Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during your tour of duty. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing (DON) and/or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Essential Duties
Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.
Administrative Functions
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure nursing staff follow established policies and procedures.
  • Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs.
  • Assist with facility surveys and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Complete accident and incident reports as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Personnel Functions
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for quality resident care.
  • Make daily rounds to monitor nursing care and staff performance.
  • Assist with work assignments and supervise nursing staff on shift.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff, residents, and families.
  • Participate in staff training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as directed.
  • Report occupational exposures, incidents, or concerns according to facility policy.
Nursing Care Functions
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents as needed.
  • Monitor resident condition and notify physician and family of changes in condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Start IVs and obtain lab specimens as ordered.
  • Review nurses' notes and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in care planning and ensure care plans are followed.
  • Ensure proper infection control and safety procedures are followed.
  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
Staff Development
  • Participate in staff education and in-service training programs.
  • Maintain current nursing knowledge and licensure requirements.
Safety and Sanitation
  • Ensure nursing service areas are clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Ensure staff follow infection control and safety procedures.
  • Participate in disaster drills, fire safety, and infection control programs.
Supervisory Requirements
Assist with the overall supervision and management of nursing staff. The RN is delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.
  • Must maintain continuing education and license in good standing.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, and physicians.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to make independent decisions and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to supervise staff and work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, organization, and critical thinking skills.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to move throughout the facility during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the position.
  • May be required to assist in emergency evacuation of residents.
Work Environment
The work environment is a healthcare setting where the employee may be exposed to infectious diseases, chemicals, and other healthcare-related conditions. The noise level is typically low to moderate. The RN may be required to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
