Title: Registered Nurse (RN), Lactation Consultant

Location: Laguna Hills, CA

Department: LDRP - Lactation Support Services

Status: Part-Time (PT)

Shift: Days (8hr shifts)

Pay Range: $57.31/hr - $89.96/hr

Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.

The RN, Lactation Consultant is a licensed professional breast feeding specialist trained to teach patients and families how to feed their baby safely and effectively. This position aids in assisting patients who experience any difficulties while breastfeeding. The Lactation Consultant is responsible for perinatal education and patient support regarding current breastfeeding practices and techniques. Utilizing their knowledge and experience this position is responsible for establishing a positive first impression of the Women's and Children's Departments.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Experience

  • Professional healthcare experience specifically working with the lactation process
  • 1-2 Years of lactation experience preferred
  • Computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record systems such as EPIC preferred

Education

  • Current California RN license required
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Professional healthcare experience specifically working with the lactation process required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Card issued by the American Heart Association required
  • Certified Childbirth Educator preferred
  • Certified Lactation Educator or Consultant preferred (IBCLC certification)
