What does a part time Epic analyst do?

A Part Time Epic Analyst is responsible for supporting and optimizing the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system in a healthcare setting, but works fewer hours than a full-time analyst. Their duties include configuring the system, troubleshooting issues, training users, and assisting with upgrades or new feature implementations. They collaborate with clinical and IT staff to ensure the Epic system meets organizational needs and complies with healthcare regulations. This role typically requires knowledge of Epic modules, healthcare workflows, and strong analytical skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time Epic analyst, and why are they important?

To excel as a Part Time Epic Analyst, you need a solid understanding of healthcare workflows, experience with the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system, and often a relevant bachelor’s degree or Epic certification. Familiarity with Epic modules, reporting tools, and database systems like SQL is essential for system configuration and troubleshooting. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are important soft skills for effective collaboration and problem-solving. Mastery of these areas ensures that an Epic Analyst can optimize EHR performance, support clinical staff, and enhance patient care workflows.

How do part time Epic analysts typically collaborate with full time team members and stakeholders to ensure project continuity?

Part-time Epic Analysts work closely with full-time analysts, clinicians, IT staff, and project managers to maintain effective communication and project alignment. They often attend key meetings, provide status updates, and utilize collaborative tools to document progress and share knowledge. To ensure project continuity despite reduced hours, part-time analysts may focus on specific modules or tasks and coordinate handoffs with team members. This structure requires strong organizational and communication skills to manage expectations and maintain workflow efficiency.
