St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Parish, located in Pembroke Pines, Florida, Broward County, seeks a Part-Time Sacristan . Under the direction of the Pastor, the Sacristan undertakes the overall preparation of liturgical celebrations for morning weekday Mass, as well as the weekend Masses. Responsibilities include the preparation and setup of the Sacramentary, Lectionary and other books, materials, altar linens and sacred vessels before the liturgy begins; assisting during the liturgy, putting everything back in order at the end of the liturgy. Responsibilities also include maintaining the order of the sacristy, preparing decorations for the church according to liturgical calendar, and other duties assigned. The Sacristan's focus is the liturgy; he / she performs all responsibilities and duties according to liturgical norms set forth by the archbishop, and in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Roman Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: Saturday 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., Sunday 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Flexibility required for funerals and weddings, mostly on weekends. Hours may be adjusted or added in the future as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Must demonstrate disposition and attitude of reverence with respect to the sacred.
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver license.
  • Must have knowledge of cleaning procedures.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be detail-oriented.
  • Basic English-language communication skills, Spanish-language communication skills a plus.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, and supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; prior training as altar server a plus.
  • Must have a pleasant, service-oriented demeanor with excellent personal interaction skills.
