Job description


The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a part-time Lead Hazard Control Risk Assessor. This a remote position, tied to our Cincinnati, OH operations. Candidates do not need to live in or around Cincinnati to apply; however, should be located in Ohio or within close proximity.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting risk assessments for lead-based paint hazards in residential, commercial, and public buildings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Job Functions

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

    Conduct on-site inspections and risk assessments for lead-based paint hazards in accordance with HUD, EPA and Ohio Department of Health guidelines.
    Collect environmental samples, including dust wipe, paint chips, and soil, for laboratory analysis. Be familiar with handheld XRF technology for assessment of lead-based paint in the field.
    Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and mitigation strategies to meet state and federal reporting requirements.
    Conduct Healthy Homes assessments to identify additional improvements to dwellings that will improve the residents' health and safety.
    Educate property owners, tenants, and contractors about lead hazards and safe work practices.
    Maintain accurate records of assessments and remediation activities.
    Stay current with lead regulations and best practices in lead inspection and risk assessment and healthy homes assessment.
    Identify appropriate and site-specific interim control and abatement methods to contribute to work specifications.
    Oversee and inspect lead abatement projects to ensure contractors are using best practices and preventing contamination.
    Conduct lead clearances and report writing in accordance with all applicable guidelines.

This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental health or lead hazard assessments
  • Current Lead Risk Assessor certification from the Ohio Department of Health
  • Strong knowledge of EPA and HUD lead regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to climb a ladder and carry an XRF analyzer.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors

 Work Environment is primarily the employee's home office or client sites.


Additional Information

This position generally is during the normal work day unless the client is not available. In general, we meet the clients when it works best for them. Work location is primarily the candidates home office or at a client site.

Overtime, night, and weekend requirements is Infrequent and not expected regularly.

Travel requirements: Regular project site visits up to approximately 75%, which could include overnight travel.

The Hourly Rate Range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
