Job description

Part-time Paramedic

Company Overview: The Auburn Hills Fire Department (AHFD) originated as a volunteer fire department in 1942 serving what was then Pontiac Township. Members of the Fire Department fight fires, provide emergency medical treatment and rescue people from dangerous situations. Our engines, ladders, and ambulances are housed out of our three strategically placed fire stations. We provide fire protection and advanced life support EMS service for over 24,000 residents over 17.4 square miles. Due to the heavy industrial/commercial makeup of our city, the day time population can rise to over 100,000 people. The department responds to over 4,000 calls annually.

AHFD is currently ranked Class 2 for their Public Protection Classification (PPC) as concluded by a third-party evaluation by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO). This classification puts the Auburn Hills Fire Department in the top 2% of all fire departments across the state. AHFD is continually working to improve the City's ISO rating by improving fire suppression services and departmental effectiveness to create a safer community for all.

General Purpose: Provides emergency medical services to the sick and injured in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Oakland County Medical Control Authority (OCMCA) protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  2. Must be18years of age or older at time of employment;
  3. Must possess, or beable to obtain by time of hire, a valid State driver's license without record of suspension or revocation;
  4. No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history;
  5. Must be able to speak, read and write the English language;
  6. Prior work experience in EMS and firefighting (preferred);
  7. Must possess Michigan Department of Public Health Paramedic License;
  8. Must possess Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification;
  9. Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification;

Hourly rate for Paramedic: $21.00 - $24.00/hour DOQ

At the time of application ALL applicants must have completed the following:

  • And EMPCO standard entry level written firefighter test,
