Description
Alamance Community College is seeking a service-oriented and collaborative Part-Time Librarian to support library operations and student success. This position provides assistance at the library service desk, delivers information literacy instruction as needed, and supports students, faculty, and staff in accessing and utilizing library resources and services.
Example of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service at the library service desk, assisting patrons with circulation, reference, technology, and general library inquiries.
Assist students, faculty, and staff with locating, evaluating, and using print and electronic resources.
Teach information literacy and library instruction sessions for classes as assigned.
Provide research assistance and support for academic projects and assignments.
Assist with the maintenance and organization of library collections and materials.
Support library programs, services, and outreach activities.
Help troubleshoot basic technology and database access issues.
Maintain knowledge of library resources, technologies, and best practices.
Perform other library-related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution, or currently enrolled in an MLIS program with significant progress toward degree completion.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and student success.
Strong communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency with computer applications and online information resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an academic library.
Experience providing library instruction or teaching information literacy.
Familiarity with library management systems, electronic databases, and educational technologies.
Experience working with diverse student populations
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office and computer equipment for extended periods.
Ability to move and shelve library materials and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Work Schedule This position is scheduled for approximately 10 hours per week. Typical hours are Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 6 pm and Friday 7:30 am - 4 pm. Work hours may vary based on library needs and instructional schedules.
