Job description

The Child & Youth Programming team is currently seeking contract Sports Instructors (Skating, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Floor Hockey, etc.) and contract Early Childhood Development Instructors to be added to our contact list and fill vacant evening and weekend positions for the Fall 2026 session.  

As a Contract Child and Youth Program Instructor, you will work on a part-time, contract basis, and once added to our contact list you will be notified of all future instructing opportunities throughout the year.

This posting is for multiple contract positions

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver high-quality recreational classes for up to 20 participants in a safe and positive environment
  • Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate lesson plans with progressions and adaptations based on skill level and abilities  
  • Incorporate physical literacy and fundamental movement skills into weekly classes
  • Interact with parents, handle all forms and paperwork and ensure overall participant safety
  • Collaborate and positively interact with the Child & Youth Programming Team
  • Equipment management including pick up/drop off, setup/takedown of program area and equipment safety assessments  


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Positive, proven leadership and team-building skills  
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of safety, quality and cooperation  
  • Proven time management skills and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and demands Sport specific coaching and/or instructing experience is highly desired  
  • Experience working with children ages 4 to 15 years
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset (must obtain within 6 months of signing first contract)
  • National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is an asset


Conditions of Employment:  

  • Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check    
  • Current First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification  
  • Ability to lift 20lbs. and supply totes as part of the job duties and stand for extended periods
