Wage Information Starting Hourly Rate Range: $23.68 - $32.02 This is a part-time position with the City of Canton. An Employee in in a part time position may work up to twenety-nine hours a week and their schedule will be determined by the City. Employees in this position will be offered paid vaction, sick time and a retirement plan

This is an open examination. To be eligible for this examination all applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or have a permanent residence card

Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Job Description General Statement of Duties: An employee in this classification is responsible for performing calibration, maintenance, and repair of various types of instrumentation, control devices, and electrical equipment; this includes complex computers as required for the ongoing operations of the Water Reclaimation Facility (WRF) facilities sufficient to meet applicable water quality criteria. Distinguishing Features of the Class: Performs maintenance and repair functions as described in the above General Statement of Duties, including manual dexterity as needed to perform fine calibration of instruments and controls

Physical mobility required for walking, bending, and stooping to inspect equipment and instrumentation throughout the facilities and for occasionally lifting motors, fans, and heavy tools. Examples of Work: Responsible for calibration of all metering and control systems, including combinations of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic components. Performs frequent inspections to observe equipment and ascertain whether functioning properly.

Makes repairs or calibrations as necessary. Checks motors for proper electrical loading. Cleans motors.

Determines circuit amperage. Cleans, adjusts, and repairs motor starting equipment. Installs, wires, and calibrates new and existing equipment as needed.

Provides temporary wiring for movable equipment. Installs new lighting fixtures and repairs existing lighting equipment. Maintains repair parts inventory on all equipment and advises management of items to be purchased.

Maintains records of maintenance and repair activities as required by supervision. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of computers, electronics, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, telemetering principles, and equipment, electricity, motors, and motor controls. Good technical judgment.

Ability to analyze situations and develop workable solutions. Ability to present ideas effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to assist and advise supervision.

Acceptable Experience and Training: An Associate's degree from a college, university, or training school of recognized standing in electronics and electricity; at least three years of practical experience in similar work; or any other combination of knowledge, training, and experience with provides the necessary skills is acceptable. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Drivers' License at all times. Waste Water Treatment incentive pay shall be paid to employee(s) in this classification provided the employee possesses a Class I, II or III Certificate as issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and is an employee of WRF.

Testing Information SHOULD TEN OR FEWER QUALIFIED APPLICANTIONS BE RECEIVED, AN EXAMINATION MAY NOT BE REQUIRED UNLSS TESTING IS NEEDED TO MERGE APPLICANTS ONTO AN EXISTING LIST. NAMES WILL BE PLACED ON AN ELIGIBILITY LIST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR APPLICATION FILING DATE. SHOULD MORE THAN TEN QUAIFIED APPLICNATS REGISTER FOR THIS EXAMINATION, THOSE APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE FORMAT, LOCATION, DATE, AND TIME OF THE EXAMINATION.

Repeating an Exam: Per OAC Rule 123: 1-9-01, an applicant who has competed in a civil service examination cannot repeat that examination or take and examination for the same classification within FOUR MONTHS from the date of original examination, unless an alternative form of examination is given, or unless other standards are specific in the examination announcement. Rating: Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established, your name will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year.

Accordingly, eligibility is not considered final until drug testing has been successfully completed with a negative result.
