The TEGNA Design Tank is looking for a talented Senior Motion Designer/Editor to join our team of 24+ designers. This role requires strong design, animation, editing, leadership, and communication skills.
As part of the TEGNA Design Tank-TEGNA's centralized internal creative agency-you'll partner with teams across News, Paid Growth, Sales, and Corporate to create impactful marketing and promotional content. You'll develop creative assets, motion graphics, and scalable templates that support broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and paid media initiatives across the company.
We're looking for someone who is equal parts creative thinker and hands-on maker, with a passion for great design, storytelling, and helping teams deliver their best work.
Responsibilities:
• Creates high-quality motion graphics, animations, MoGRTs, and visual effects that align with project objectives and brand standards. Applies and shares best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across teams and platforms.
• Builds and maintains strong relationships with Regional Marketing Directors and the Head of Consumer Marketing to understand business needs, champion design best practices, and develop scalable creative solutions that empower creative producers across our organization.
• Will be an alternate contact for station, marketing, and corporate projects.
• Will assist with training new hires or be able to delegate training appropriately.
• Duties will include guiding team projects as the project lead and serving as the design lead for pilot projects and larger scoped initiatives.
• Responsibilities include serving a diverse range of clients across all TEGNA stations, performing effectively under tight deadlines, and multitasking efficiently to meet various demands.
• Provide guidance and support to other designers, helping to develop their skills and enhance the overall team output.

Requirements::
• Candidate must have had formal training in design/art at trade school or college.
• Associate or bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 8 years as a Motion Graphic Designer at a local news station supporting marketing and branding, along with daily news. Sales support is a plus
• Strong skills in Adobe CC Suite required, specifically After Effects and Premiere.
• Demonstrate strong design & editing skills.
• Takes a keen interest in applying artificial intelligence where it makes sense
• Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
• Able to perform under very tight deadlines and act as design team lead.
• Possesses excellent spelling and grammar skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Salary range: $33.50- $37.50/hr ($69,680- $78,000 yr)
