Job description

St. Charles Community College (SCC) is located just west of St. Louis, in the heart of growing St. Charles County. At SCC, we have a passion for student success. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in serving diverse student populations.

SCC's Commercial Driving School (CDS) is seeking a Contract Trainer III. Our CDS program is in Wentzville, MO. Individual will work part time, with flexible hours available, in collaboration with the commercial driving instructional team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of industry rules and federal and state regulations in the commercial driving discipline including comprehensive knowledge of equipment, training procedures, testing skills, test preparation and practice protocols.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds.
  • The position requires excellent customer service and regular and predictable attendance.
  • The position requires teaching duties under the guidance of the Commercial Driving Coordinator.
  • Instruct students while training on state-of-the-art simulator training systems and the outdoor driving range.
  • Accompany students in over-the-road practice (current CDL required).
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree and related training, and tested tractor trailer experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) full-time years of current or recent professional work experience as a tractor trailer driver.
  • Ability to drive a manual truck.
  • A current and valid Commercial Class A Driving License.
  • No air brake restrictions.
  • No major Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) citations (DUI, reckless driving, etc.)
  • Must possess a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical card or have the ability to obtain one.
    • Ability to obtain and pass a DOT drug and alcohol test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Two (2) - five (5) years of tractor trailer driving experience and an Associate's degree or higher.
