We are seeking a Carpenter to support the Veteran community in the Dallas, TX area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.

Position Highlights:

  • Logistics:
    • Pay: $23.00+ an hour
    • Contract Type: 6-month contract with 6-month extension period
    • Schedule: 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Federal Holidays excluded
    • Location: 4500 S. Lancaster Rd, Dallas, TX
  • Requirements:
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
    • Previous carpentry experience and knowledge in the construction field
    • OSHA certification
    • Creativity and design skills
    • Experience of using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws, and nail guns
    • Reliable transportation to and from work
    • An associate degree or an apprenticeship in carpentry (preferred)
    • Joinery or cabinet-making skills (preferred)
    • Knowledge of building regulations and codes (preferred)
    • Previous experience with the VA is a plus

What does a typical day look like for the Carpenters?

You will:

  • 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Federal Holidays excluded
  • Alters and installs walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows, including all trim and finishes in all buildings on the hospital grounds.
  • Constructs new drywall partitions and other temporary structures of wood construction
  • Installs windows and doors, mortising doors and frames for lock strike plates and keepers
  • Installs acoustical ceilings and floor coverings of all types, including carpet
  • Builds forms for concrete walks, road curbing, and steps
  • Works with Formica, laminate coverings, and paneling
  • Make new furniture such as tables, cabinets, and work benches
  • Constructs and installs bulletin boards, blackboards, cabinets, and shelving

What qualifications do you look for?
