A Part Time Dog Walker is responsible for walking dogs on a scheduled basis, ensuring they get exercise, fresh air, and bathroom breaks. This role often involves visiting clients' homes, following specific care instructions, and maintaining the safety and well-being of the dogs. Schedules can vary based on client needs, and walkers may handle multiple dogs at once or individually. It's an ideal job for animal lovers looking for flexible, active work.
A typical day as a Part Time Dog Walker involves traveling to clients’ homes, picking up dogs for walks, following specific care instructions, and ensuring each dog gets adequate exercise and attention. You may walk multiple dogs individually or in small groups, manage different schedules, and handle tasks like freshening water bowls or cleaning up after pets. Communication with pet owners—either through quick updates, photos, or pet care apps—is common. Flexibility is key, as daily routes and responsibilities can vary with client needs and weather conditions. This role allows for an active, independent workday with rewarding interactions with both pets and people.
To thrive as a Part Time Dog Walker, you need a genuine love for animals, basic knowledge of canine behavior, good physical fitness, and reliability. Familiarity with pet care apps, GPS tracking tools, or basic first aid certification for pets is often advantageous. Strong communication skills, patience, and attention to detail help you stand out when interacting with pet owners and addressing unique dog personalities. These skills ensure safe, positive experiences for the dogs and provide peace of mind for their owners.

RequirementsWe are a busy, active family with four teenagers, one of whom lives with us full-time and keeps a full schedule of school, competitive sports, and appointments. Our household runs at a high pace during the week, and we have worked hard to put good systems in place (weekly cleaning, daily dog walking, and outdoor maintenance are all handled). What we haven't been able to solve is the late afternoon pinch point: the scramble between wrapping up work, getting a healthy dinner on the table, and keeping up with the logistics that pile up during the day.
We both work demanding professional schedules, often from home part of the week, and travel intermittently throughout the year. We have a big, lovable Bernedoodle who already has her own walker and groomer. We just need someone who loves dogs and is happy to pitch in when needed.
Our home is warm, calm, and organized. We value professionalism, reliability, and someone who takes genuine pride in their work. This is a household that functions well-we are looking for someone who will make it function even better.
Who You Are / What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a self-starter who walks in, reads the room, and gets to work without needing much direction. You naturally notice when supplies are running low, when something needs attention, or when there is an opportunity to make the household run more smoothly, and simply handle it.
You genuinely enjoy being in the kitchen and are a confident home cook who is comfortable preparing healthy, family-friendly meals and taking ownership of meal planning and prep. You are health-conscious, organized, and proactive. A passion for cooking or more advanced culinary skills is not required, but would be a dream fit!
You are comfortable working independently and quietly within a busy household, particularly when the parents are working from home. You are warm and personable while also knowing how to give the family space, and you are at ease around independent, self-sufficient teenagers.
Dependability and punctuality are essential, and you take your schedule and commitments seriously. Above all, you are someone the family can count on.
