Bookkeeper / Controller

Job Title: Bookkeeper / Controller

Employment Type: Part-Time

Department: Finance

Location: Seneca, PA

Reports To: President / Production Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Controller to oversee the financial operations of our printing and label manufacturing company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and providing financial insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, manufacturing industry experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all general accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
  • Oversee job costing and inventory accounting specific to printing/label production
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including sales tax and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Coordinate with external accountants for year-end review and tax preparation
  • Generate financial reports and provide analysis to management
  • Support operational teams with cost tracking and margin analysis

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; controller-level experience preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing or printing environment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems)
  • Strong understanding of job costing and inventory management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
