Description
The School of Social Work at the University of Washington invites applications for multiple lecturer positions with an anticipated start date of September, 2026. These positions are non-tenurable and do not afford voting rights. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence as social work practitioner-educators who are committed to teaching in BASW foundation practice and/or MSW foundation and advanced practice and/or in a specialization area of professional social work in a diverse and inclusive community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a part-time, 50%FTE, basis for the nine-month academic year, September 16 through June 15, with up to 2.5 paid months of summer salary available based on program, curricular and administrative needs. These renewable appointments are expected to begin no later than September 16, 2026.
The base salary range for this position will be $5881 - $5999 per month at 1.0 FTE, prorated to $2940.50 - $2999.50 at .5 FTE, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Part-time lecturers are appointed to teach courses in the BASW and MSW programs (including Day, Extended Degree, Weekend, and Advanced Standing options), with courses offered during the day, evening, or Saturdays. Lecturers appointed at 0.50 FTE or greater teach three courses (9-12 credits) per academic year and are responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating their courses, advising and mentoring students, and working closely with faculty colleagues teaching other course sections. Faculty may also participate in collaborative course development, planning, and assessment, and experienced lecturers may mentor new part-time lecturers, doctoral student instructors, and teaching assistants. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, a PhD or Doctorate in Social Work (DSW), and licensure as an LICSW.
The UW School of Social Work teaching faculty leverage knowledge and skills in engagement, mentorship, and teaching to enrich and educate our student body for future professional practice. They are creative colleagues who bring fresh perspectives to our educational mission and who can collaborate effectively with faculty to support the integration of practicum experiences with coursework.
