Job description

Description
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington, Seattle invites applications for a Lecturer Part-Time Temporary in Archaeology with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. The successful candidate will join our instructional faculty on a full-time (100% FTE) basis for a nine-month academic appointment, beginning September 16, 2026, through June 15, 2027. This is a non-tenure-track, non-renewable, fixed-term appointment.
The base salary range for this position will be ($7100-$7800) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach six courses (lecture and or lab) that provide either a regional survey or a thematic focus in Archaeology. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Indigenous Archaeology, Pacific Northwest Archaeology, Archaeology of the Americas, Archaeological Theory, or other offerings listed in the department's course catalog. Priority will be given to candidates whose courses can attract a broad undergraduate audience while supporting advanced training.
All courses are taught in person on the UW Seattle campus. Upper-division courses typically enroll both undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent) by the start date
Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the upper-division level
