Key responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, equipment, and trailers.
- Diagnose, repair, and overhaul complete electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring all components function effectively.
- Ensure compliance with industry service standards by obtaining and following relevant procedures and guidelines.
- Determine the cause of issues and execute repairs using hand tools, scanners, specialized diagnostic equipment, manual inspection, visual examination, and audible diagnostics.
- Record detailed notes and updates in the fleet management software system to maintain accurate service records.
- Identify trends that could impact service quality by monitoring repair part quality, delivery times, part costs, and vendor customer service.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and customers is crucial to extending fleet life and maintaining competitive costs.
- Analyze repair trends on specific makes and models to help the shop plan, prepare, and prevent potential breakdowns.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position is essential, requiring the employee to work during adverse weather conditions and potentially even when the University is closed for normal operations.
