Part Time Detective information

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a part time detective?

To thrive as a Part Time Detective, you need strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and a background in criminal justice or law enforcement, often supported by relevant certifications or prior experience. Familiarity with case management software, surveillance equipment, and evidence collection tools is typically required. Excellent communication, discretion, and critical thinking distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are vital for conducting thorough investigations, maintaining legal compliance, and effectively resolving cases.

Can you become a part time detective in 2 years?

Becoming a part-time detective typically requires relevant experience in law enforcement or private investigation, which can take several years to acquire. While some skills can be developed quickly, gaining the necessary background and certifications usually takes more than two years, making it unlikely to become a fully qualified part-time detective within that timeframe.

What are common challenges faced by part time detectives in managing their workload and investigations?

Part-time detectives often need to balance their investigative responsibilities with other part-time work or personal commitments, making time management a key challenge. They may face limitations in accessing resources or support compared to their full-time counterparts, and must prioritize cases effectively to ensure thorough follow-up within limited hours. Additionally, maintaining communication with law enforcement teams and staying updated on case developments can require extra coordination, especially when working irregular or reduced schedules.

What is a part time detective?

Part time detectives are professionals who investigate crimes or conduct private investigations, but do so without working full-time hours. They may be employed by police departments, private investigation firms, or work independently on a flexible basis. Their duties can include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, conducting surveillance, and preparing reports. Part time detectives often balance their investigative work with other commitments or jobs, and may be called in for specific cases or assignments as needed.

Job description

Work in a mobile dermatology clinic, assist in surgical procedures, and help detect skin cancer early—all while being part of a fast-growing, mission-driven team.

About OnSpot Dermatology

At OnSpot, we’re redefining how patients access dermatology care. Our state-of-the-art mobile medical clinics bring full-service skin care—including screenings, biopsies, and Mohs surgery—directly to communities and workplaces across Southwest Florida.

We combine innovation, compassion, and convenience to make high-quality dermatology care more accessible—and to save lives through early skin cancer detection.

Why This Role Is Different

This is not your typical Medical Assistant position.

  • Work in a mobile clinic—no two days are exactly the same
  • Gain hands-on experience in dermatology and surgical procedures
  • Be part of a close-knit, supportive team (not a large corporate system)
  • Make a real impact by helping detect and treat skin cancer early
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and expand your clinical skills

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome patients and prepare them for exams
  • Take medical histories and assist with documentation (scribe)
  • Assist providers during procedures, excisions, and Mohs surgeries
  • Prepare and handle specimens for lab processing
  • Support patient flow, scheduling, and follow-up care
  • Help ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed, and cared for
  • Pitch in where needed as part of a collaborative team

What We’re Looking For
  • Medical Assistant experience (dermatology or surgical experience is a plus—but we will train the right candidate)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Dependable, flexible, and motivated
  • Experience with EMR systems is helpful (we’ll train you on EMA)

Schedule Options
  • Full-time and part-time positions available
  • Flexible scheduling depending on clinic routes

Compensation & Growth
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Hands-on training in dermatology and surgical procedures
  • Opportunity to grow within a rapidly expanding practice

Our Mission

To create a patient experience like no other—and to make life-saving dermatology care accessible to everyone.
