Part-Time Graphic Design Specialist
$25-$35 /Hour Depending on Qualifications
The Town of Vienna is seeking a talented Part-Time Graphic Designer to help bring government programs, events, services, and initiatives to life through engaging print and digital communications. From social media graphics and infographics to publications, presentations, and marketing materials, you'll play a key role in helping connect our community with the services that matter most.
Working with the Public Information team, the Graphic Designer will transform ideas and information into impactful visual content that supports Town initiatives, strengthens the Town brand, and helps residents stay informed. From designing publications and social media graphics to developing presentations, infographics, and marketing materials, this position offers the opportunity to create meaningful work that reaches the community every day.
The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with strong design skills, a passion for storytelling through visuals, and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, branding, and producing high-quality content across multiple platforms.

Work Schedule:20-25 Hours/Week. Flexible schedule and hybrid/telework negotiable.

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and design layouts across all mediums, both print and digital, that have a clear focus, theme, and message for intended audiences that may include brochures, posters, reports, social media, websites, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials, in line with strategic goals
  • Follow and develop brand consistency across a range of formats and applications
  • Transform and interpret ideas and information from creative proposals into high quality visual publications (graphics, calls to actions, visual aids, etc.)
  • Assist with all aspects of production and design of visual communications that help create awareness and appreciation for organizational initiatives
  • Meet regularly with Communications team and project leads to brainstorm creative new ideas for social media
  • Collaborate with Communications team on developing organizational style guide
  • Provide peer review support to ensure high quality deliverables across the Town government
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery
  • Escalate questions or deviations from system guidelines when needed
  • Create graphic design and layout for print and digital media.
  • Design, edit, and enhance Microsoft PowerPoint presentations as needed.
  • Create graphic designs for print press kits and a variety of digital and print documents.
  • Illustrate and design infographics for press kits, press releases, media events, and other press-related materials.
  • Develop graphics for trade shows, event booths, conferences, exhibits, and media events.
  • Create graphic materials for video production and animated content for video, web content, and social media.
  • Research subject matter and communicate with researchers to ensure scientific accuracy in illustrations, infographics, and related visuals.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team as well as independently on assigned projects.
  • Assure all content created meets current Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Provide technical and artistic advice to staff about visual information.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other creative and visually related duties as assigned.
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud and related visual content production applications to complete assigned work.

  • Work directly with Pubic Information Director to lead creative strategy for stakeholders

Minimum Training and Experience
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent with major coursework in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, or related field
Five or more years of experience in graphic design or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
