Office Technician II
DCFS Northern Region-Ogden

The Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) Ogden office is seeking a highly motivated individual with professional work experience in an office setting to fill their Office Technician II position. Become part of a team of professionals working together to keep children safe and strengthen families in our communities!
Key Responsibilities
The Office Technician II opens and closes the DCFS office daily, answers incoming phone calls, greets walk-in customers, and directs callers and/or visitors to appropriate staff members and/or resources. They are responsible for keeping the office functioning efficiently by also performing the following tasks:
  • Answering phones.
  • Stamping and distributing mail
  • Mailing certified mail to clients or sheriff; tracking in SAFE case.
  • Maintaining the upkeep of office equipment.
  • Monitoring and stocking office supplies.
  • Maintaining Supervised visit rooms and lobby for cleanliness and organization.
  • Contacting building representatives when building issues present themselves.
  • Maintaining and assisting with the fleet of Utah state vehicles for the Ogden office
  • Collecting BCI / Livescan paperwork.
  • Collecting GRAMA paperwork and scanning for processing.
  • Maintaining current phone lists, organizational charts, and community lists.
  • Assisting workers with any help or assistance they may need

Qualifications
The model candidate for this position is someone who:
  • Has professional work experience working in an office setting answering phones for a large office.
  • Is adept at dealing with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Is skilled with using Microsoft Word, Excel t, and Google add ons to create and prepare documents.
  • Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing.

Supplemental Information

  • May require 24-hour on-call services/time. 24-hour on-call services response time to be determined by the agency.
  • Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees.
  • Travel required; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance.
  • All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).
  • Must have a valid Utah driver's license.
  • A position's eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
  • The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.

Physical Requirements
  • Moderate - Some of the work performed requires some physical exertion. You may be required to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend; crouch; stoop; stretch; reach; lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), e.g. lifting a small child in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.

Working Conditions
  • Moderate Risk - Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g. safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
