Job Summary
The School of Information is seeking a Visual Support Assistant to assist faculty and staff with accessibility needs. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Executive Support, this role will work collaboratively as requested in a range of tasks such as administrative support, assisting with visual presentations, and providing guided assistance to and from on-campus events.
We are seeking a candidate who is open to working in partnership with faculty and staff in need of assistance and evolving to understand needs.
Responsibilities*
  • Assist with converting inaccessible formatted materials to accessible versions, including interpreting and describing data visualization in scientific papers,
  • Assist with repetitive tasks that are sometimes inaccessible or partially inaccessible, such as travel planning or navigating inaccessible software and programming tools
  • Create aesthetically appealing presentations, system diagrams, and data visualizations in partnership with faculty research
  • Proofread and spot-check manuscripts while ensuring adequate visual appeal

Required Qualifications*
  • Experience providing visual assistance in a variety of tasks and settings
  • Experience providing quality designs with presentations, infographics, and statistical data
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with LaTeX software

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
Work Schedule
Punctual attendance is required. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends. Hours are not set and should be considered on an "as-needed" basis.
Work Locations
May require travel to multiple locations on and off campus. The main office workspace for this position is located in Leinweber.
Additional Information
You must be eligible to work in the United States, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position. In addition, while remote work is allowable for this position, all work must be performed within the United States and its territories.
