Job Summary
The Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) is the home of the University of Michigan?s Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health. MICHR is part of a national, collaborative consortium that is focused on bringing more treatments to all patients more quickly by advancing clinical and translational science (CTS). The field of CTS aims to build an evidence base of scientific and operational approaches that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of translational research across a range of diseases and conditions. MICHR is a dynamic organization that serves as a hub of innovation and experimentation to advance research in the science of translation and accelerate the realization of interventions that improve human health.
We are seeking an individual to assist in data visualization and data management for the MICHR Education & Mentoring Group (EMG) at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR). The Education & Mentoring Group is a singular unit within MICHR that facilitates training, career development, and learning opportunities for research study team members at the University of Michigan. In this temporary position, the student will work with the EMG Evaluation Specialist to develop a system to consolidate data from multiple collection platforms into a REDCap database. The ideal candidate will have experience in data visualization and data management to assist in assigned tasks for 20 hours/week for 10 weeks.
Responsibilities*
  • Assist the Evaluation Specialist in the following:
    • Develop a system to consolidate data from multiple data collection platforms
    • Assist in data cleaning and error checks
    • Prepare written documentation on process development
    • Participate in weekly meetings with the EMG Program Director and Evaluation Specialist
  • Perform other related duties and collaborative activities as requested.

Required Qualifications*
General Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of college education
  • Reliable transportation

  • ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Has the ability to be a team player and maintain communication with senior MICHR program staff.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience in data visualization or data management
  • A basic understanding of medical terminology.

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
Work Schedule
This position is part-time (20 hours per week) with regular hours defined by the EMG Program Director. To be considered for this position, you must be flexible and available to work a varied schedule as needed.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
