Description:

We are seeking an energetic, dynamic person to provide services to our Jefferson County schools on a full time or part time basis. Work hours follow the standard school calendar are are available for both full and part time hours. If you are interested in joining our team, please complete the online application.


SUMMARY

This is a professional position under the immediate supervision of a Prevention Educator II or III and general supervision of the Associate Director of Prevention Education and Director of Prevention Education. The position provides prevention services in school and community setting and collaborates with prevention staff in delivering, planning, evaluating, and promoting prevention programming.


RESPONSIBILITIES

· Participate as a team member in the formulation of program and/or agency planning, and in the coordination and implementation of prevention programming.

· Provides prevention programming for students, teachers, parents and/or community members.

· Maintain an active workload of 10-25 presentations per week or other goal set mutually with supervisor.

· Establish and maintain relationships with school contacts.

· Document all aspects of the job in compliance with agency, contractual, and funding requirements.

· Perform all other related work as assigned.


PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

· Ability to maintain effective and cooperative relationships with volunteers, clients, staff members, and other community social service agen­cies.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

· A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in education, psychology, social work, community organization, counseling, human services, or related field.

· Within 6-12 months of hire obtain a Missouri Prevention Specialist (MPS) Certification through the Missouri Credentialing Board.

· Previous training or experience in public speaking, social services, minority relations, youth programs, planning/coordination, community organization, or teaching preferred.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


COMPUTER SKILLS

· E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and data entry.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

· This position works primarily in schools with local travel in the community. Must have a valid Driver’s License, current auto insurance coverage, and reliable transportation.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The physical requirements of this job includes: sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs on a regular basis; lifting up to 25lbs, pulling and/or pushing on occasion.
