Job description

About the Opportunity
About the Opportunity
The Multidisciplinary Graduate Engineering (MGEN) unit, within the College of Engineering, invites applications for the Adjunct Faculty position for teaching selected graduate courses for the multidisciplinary masters degree programs in Boston, Massachusetts.
The MGEN unit seeks to produce more effective software engineers who are substantially more capable than ever of addressing the needs of digital society in terms of time, cost, and quality. The unit will accomplish this by revolutionizing the way software is designed and evolved overtime, and believe software is a systems engineering challenge rather than a coding problem. See website for details of programs: http://www.coe.neu.edu/graduate-school/multidisciplinary
Responsibilities:
Teach selected graduate courses within the multidisciplinary masters degree programs. See website for details of programs: http://www.coe.neu.edu/graduate-school/multidisciplinary
Responsibilities include preparation of lectures, course materials, examinations, and evaluation of student performance in the course.
The multidisciplinary masters suite of degree programs in Boston include:
MS in Information Systems focuses on the intersection of cutting-edge technology and business complexity with an emphasis on the art and science of designing intricate software applications especially in the areas of healthcare, security and privacy, auditing and compliance, business improvement and intelligence, as well as financial accountability. Courses include application engineering and development, engineering big-data systems, and engineering secure software systems.
MS in Information Systems Bridge is focused for students with non-STEM, non-technical bachelor's degrees that are the knowledge link between business users and technologists by understanding the complexities of both. Students' undergraduate work in the humanities provides them with a unique perspective and approach in developing systems via a socio-technical lens. Students take courses specifically designed to bridge their current professional pursuits with the background and industry knowledge needed to advance in the IT sector. As industries launch into a digitized future, professionals with a clear understanding of how technology can be used to address large societal challenges are in demand.
The MS in Data Architecture and Management is designed to prepare students for this evolving and growing field, by providing students the holistic knowledge and technical skills to engineer big data systems, curate data, and integrate and process data so that data scientists and business analysts can access and interpret data in context to provide meaningful results to management.
The MS in Software Engineering Systems approaches software development from the analytical and methodological perspective of an engineer. Students build advanced design and engineering skills, enhance their knowledge in cloud computing, and develop machine learning algorithms. With a passion for high-performance technology, large-scale machine learning, and AI-type algorithms, students become intuitive problem solvers, experienced engineer architects, and results-focused leaders. Their knowledge at the three-way intersection of computer science, engineering, and ethics enables them to have real-world societal impact in high-demand fields across industries.
Qualifications:
M.S. or Ph.D. in relevant engineering discipline is required; some professional and/or teaching experience preferred. Must have strong, effective verbal skills to communicate well with students.
