Job Description:

Overview

The Data Analyst Part Time supports data-informed initiatives, including clinical quality, financial performance, and population health by gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data as a compelling story to the Hill Physicians team and its collaborating partners. Within this classification, analysts may focus on reporting and visualization, or analytical consultation and modeling. Data Analysts work as members of teams committed to using and promoting industry-standard best practices and to addressing new problems with innovative solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Transform data into actionable insights with narrative to drive strategic and operational decisions
  • Conduct driver analysis to identify key factors influencing health outcomes and predict future utilization of health care services
  • Provide consultation to internal stakeholders in understanding and responding to HPMG performance as measured by external bodies, e.g., health plans and the Integrated Healthcare Association, as well as variations in internal clinical and financial metrics
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders with appropriate use of standardized reports, analytical approaches to population management and quality improvement programs, and program effectiveness evaluation
  • Serve as analytical liaison with internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of data requirements and fostering collaboration to drive data-driven decision-making
  • Use business understanding to appropriately implement logic specifications
  • Independently develop analytic plan to address business questions
  • Prepare presentations for non-technical audiences
  • Provide guidance and support to junior analysts, helping them develop their skills and understanding of data analysis and familiarity with data sets
  • Utilize advanced querying techniques for complex data manipulation and statistical analyses

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Proactively perform quality assurance on all deliverables including researching and reconciling data discrepancies occurring among various information systems and reports
  • Maintain high data quality standards to ensure that reports and analyses are accurate, timely, and reliable, enabling confident decision-making
  • Improve the organization's quality assurance procedures
  • Collaborate with appropriate IT teams and business stewards to improve the quality of data and information flows at Hill Physicians
  • Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and healthcare industry standards, including HIPAA

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, informatics, statistics, public health, or related field with coursework in quantitative analysis
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional analytics-related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize multiple projects and problem-solve under tight deadlines and resource constraints
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills, including ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to function as an integral part of a team in a rapidly changing work environment, and to operate effectively with limited direction from management
  • Intermediate understanding of healthcare-specific datasets, including claims, clinical, and authorization data, with the ability to perform data extraction and analysis.
  • Can independently solve moderately complex analytic problems and generate insights that inform decision-making within specific business areas
  • Understanding of data pipelines from source systems (e.g. EPIC) into data warehousing or other downstream data sources
  • Experience with chronic disease identification, utilization trending, outlier analysis, quality metrics, and tracking of other health performance indicators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, including pivot tables and advanced formulas and functions
  • Proficiency in querying languages such as SQL
  • Experience with advanced data visualization tools such as Tableau or GIS software (ArcGIS) preferred
  • Experience with advanced analytic programs/languages such as SAS or R preferred
