Based in Burke, VT, and Litchfield County, CT, KC&E is committed to delivering exceptional experiences to adventurers of all ages.
Position Overview:
Location: Connecticut - Camps in Redding, Cornwall, Colebrook, Newtown
Position Type: Part-Time (Seasonal)
Schedule: Monday-Wednesday (Thursday Rain Dates)
KC&E Mountain Bike Camps and Clinics are renowned for their safe, fun, and inclusive approach to teaching mountain biking. We offer camps for young riders aged 7-13, as well as clinics and private instruction for riders of all ages. As a Youth Mountain Bike Instructor, you'll play a vital role in guiding participants through KC&E's skill development curriculum, ensuring safety, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Lead Instructor to execute all aspects of the program.
  • Guide participants in skill instruction, leading bike rides, and facilitating games.
  • Ensure safety and adherence to best practices throughout the program.
  • Assist with daily setup, cleanup, participant check-in, and check-out.
  • Foster connections with participants and their families.
  • Provide daily feedback to the Lead Instructor regarding group dynamics and adjustments.

What We're Looking For:
  • Cycling Enthusiast: Passionate and proficient in mountain biking.
  • Experience with Kids: Previous experience working with children - camp counselor, teacher, coach, troop leader, etc.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with staff to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the local trail system (preferred).
  • Training Requirement: Completion of KC&E's curriculum training (online and in-person) is required before starting.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to handle minor bike repairs, navigate trail challenges, and respond to camper needs effectively.
  • Positive Attitude: A supportive, encouraging demeanor that helps build confidence in young riders.

Schedule:
  • Camps run every Monday-Wednesday with Thursday rain dates, June 23 to August 18, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Orientation:
  • In-person training with the regional camp coordinator
  • Virtual training modules

Requirements

  • Experience: 1+ years of childcare experience (preferred).
  • Certifications: First Aid and CPR (preferred).
