Job description

Columbia College Chicago is an acclaimed undergraduate and graduate institution that provides a comprehensive education in the arts, communications, and public relations. We are in the heart of Chicago, across the street from historic Grant Park, and housed in some of the most iconic buildings in the South Loop.

Columbia College Chicago is a private urban institution of approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, four-year College offering a distinctive curriculum that blends liberal arts, creative and media arts and business is currently searching for a(an) Audience Services Manager.ย 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Audience Services Manager position will encompass manyย  box office and house management duties for all four Getz Theatre Center venues and will report to the production manager.ย This position will supervise student work aids and collaborate with production and administrative staff, associate chair (Artistic Director) and faculty. Schedule will vary, working during the day in selling tickets, submitting payments, communicating ticket information to marketing and communications and, work evenings/afternoons, monitoring audience services at performances.

This is a part-time union position. May work up to 25 hours per week, hours vary based on performance/production schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconcileย cash and credit for box office purchases, deposit online payments.

  • Interactย with faculty, staff, students to arrange complimentary ticket reservations.

  • Interact with audiences to facilitate ticket purchases, refunds and sharing information about performances.

  • Solicit and schedule ushers and box office attendants.

  • Attend public performances as needed as the front of house, on-site supervisor.

  • Monitor audience access to performance spaces, handling audience problems.

  • Coordinate staffing for pre-show lectures, special mainstage-related performances, and post-show discussions.

  • Facilitate communication between theatre spaces, with stage managers and security to assure safe audience procedures during performances.

  • Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.

  • Undergraduate degree in performance or arts management or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.

  • Minimum 2 years audience services or retail experience.

  • Ability to work with required/available ticketing software.

  • Be able to work a varied schedule.

  • Good collaborative skills usable with departmental students.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills.

Position Minimum Hourly Rate: $22.60

Position Maximum Hourly Rate: $27.00

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including department budget.
