Part Time Contract information

What is a part-time contract?

Part-time contract jobs are positions where individuals work fewer hours than full-time employees and are hired for a specific duration or project based on a contractual agreement. These roles often offer flexibility in scheduling and may not include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. Workers in part-time contract roles are typically considered independent contractors rather than regular employees, which affects tax obligations and workplace protections. This type of employment is common in industries like education, consulting, freelance writing, and IT.

How do part-time contract roles typically integrate with full-time teams and company workflows?

Part-time contract roles often collaborate closely with full-time team members to complete specific projects or tasks. Communication is key, as contractors may work limited hours and need to stay aligned with the team's priorities and deadlines. Companies usually provide access to internal systems, regular check-ins, and clear project briefs to ensure part-time contractors remain connected and productive. Flexibility and proactive communication help contractors manage expectations and contribute effectively despite not being on-site or available full-time.

What are the qualifications to get a part-time contract job?

The minimum qualifications for a part-time contract job vary with the position. To become an assistant athletic coach, you need a bachelor’s degree in sports science, kinesiology, or sports medicine. Employers typically a CPR certification as well. A freelance accountant should have at least a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a similar field. Advancing your skills with a CMA or CPA license can also be beneficial. Knowledge of accounting software like QuickBooks is beneficial when you are applying for jobs. A college instructor should have at least a master’s degree in the field they are teaching. However, some employers prefer applicants with a doctorate.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time contract worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part-Time Contract Worker, you generally need relevant experience in your field, adaptability, and the ability to work independently, usually supported by a high school diploma or higher education as required by the specific role. Familiarity with project management software, time-tracking tools, and cloud-based collaboration platforms is often necessary. Strong communication, time management, and self-motivation help you excel in meeting deadlines and client expectations. These skills and qualities are crucial because they ensure high productivity, reliability, and satisfaction in flexible, often remote, working arrangements.

What is the difference between Part Time Contract vs Part Time Permanent?

AspectPart Time ContractPart Time Permanent

Job description

About Saylor

Saylor is an LA-based creative agency for entertainment brands and brands who seek to entertain. We are an office filled with passionate people who love to work together to develop authentic, sharable content that inspires fans across the internet. We represent a wide range of clients including Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Hulu, Paramount+, and more.

We're a close-knit team of creatives who value collaboration, quality of work, innovation, and most importantly: being social. In the office, we aim to create a supportive environment where individuals are encouraged to work together to problem-solve for our clients.

Position Overview

Saylor seeks a Canada-based innovative, sharp part-time contract Social Copywriter with experience in social media copywriting, content strategy, and creative development to join the Social team. The ideal candidate will be exceedingly creative, collaborative, strategic, and obsessed with social media and marketing trends. Working across organic and paid social, this role will support the Social, Editorial, and Design teams in shaping the creative efforts on pitches, social content, and brand and marketing campaigns. This person will be responsible for building tone and voice for projects and pitches, ideating content, developing and writing concepts, copy editing decks and content, and writing scripts and social copy.

The Copywriter will bring a confident, strong and studied creative perspective from a language-first point of view to all the work they do. They will collaborate across all teams at Saylor — partnering with Strategy, Accounts, Editorial, and Design to elevate individual assets and entire campaigns. Throughout, you'll ensure all creative aligns with strategy and brand voice through copy, design, and execution.

Throughout, they'll develop ideas, scripts, and copy that resonate authentically with Canadian audiences. They should have a strong understanding of cultural nuances and emerging trends that influence how social content is received in the Canada market, ensuring creative feels locally relevant without sacrificing a cohesive brand voice.

About You

A seemingly bottomless pit of fresh ideas, you have a deep well of references and experiences to pull from and you always have your thumb on the pulse of what's clicking with audiences on social media. You're a natural wordsmith who can adapt to various tones and brand voices, finding unique ways for copy to stand out and take up meaningful space. You're not afraid to share your ideas in a room — whether it's with internal teams or clients — and you enthusiastically build up and nurture your teammate's ideas. Flexibility and a positive attitude come naturally to you, and you create open and symbiotic environments conducive to generating ideas without ego or shallow judgement. Curiosity, kindness, empathy, and playfulness are core tenets that you value and freely dispense.

You feel confident and comfortable with the intricacies of entertainment marketing, with experience supporting or guiding high-profile creative projects from ideation to execution. You love a pitch deck and working with Creative, Strategy, and Accounts to create a cohesive, unique campaign strategy. You feel secure talking with clients about their vision and needs, offering creative solutions that make them want to come back for more best-in-class campaigns.

You may have been any of the following in your career: a social media manager with strong audience knowledge, a well-rounded copywriter who always had kick-ass ideas, a community manager who found fresh ways to connect to fandoms,  a lingo-obsessed creative producer who was always one step ahead with big ideas or some combination of it all!
