Job description

Vermont State University School of Nursing & Health Sciences Invites applications for a Part-Time teaching position for Fall 2026 (August 24 - December 18, 2026) for EMS-2010 Lab - Principles & Practices of Paramedicine I Lab
This position is for approximately 53 hours for the semester. 2.36 teaching workload credits per semester.
This course prepares the EMT or AEMT for a successful transition to paramedic-level practice through a flipped-classroom model with intensive laboratory days each week. Emergency Medical Technician level skills are verified, and the student is expected to expand upon prior knowledge to develop paramedic-level knowledge of foundational concepts, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, assessment of ill and injured people across the lifespan, medication administration, and pharmacology. The student will advance their knowledge and skills related to the assessment and interdisciplinary management of conditions related to airway management, respiratory problems, and trauma. Clinical and field experiences in the first semester focus on developing these foundational skills and learning about the role of the paramedic.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 2 to 4 years of experience in the paramedic field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. A Vermont Paramedic License or Vermont Registered Nurse License with EMS experience is required.
  • Knowledge of course content being delivered.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and flexible decision-making capabilities.
  • AHA instructor status required for ACLS and PALS courses.
  • Team Player with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with all levels of students as well as internal faculty and staff.
  • Ability to endure considerable walking, standing, and lifting while instructing/supervising students.
  • Ability to deal effectively with and represent the College to a broad range of individuals and groups within and outside of the College.
  • All required immunizations must be up to date.
  • Valid Vemront driver's license.
