Job description

Position Overview:

This part time role involves assisting with all marketing plan activities. 

Reporting to the Marketing Manager & Assistant Marketing Manager, the Marketing Associate will assist with all marketing resources and collateral relating to Houston Humane Society's mission & programs. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and activate Marketing collateral to ensure messaging and graphics align with brand online and in the shelter 
  • Review the marketing calendar to curate content
  • Provide recommendations for special events, community outreach, and fundraisers
  • Monitor social media for trending topics to utilize on current and new social media platforms
  • Provide timely support to development team on various fundraising initiatives related to donor engagement.
  • Identify potential influencers and build a prospect list
  • Photograph and design theme frames to promote adoptables, campaigns, and donations online and in shelter
  • Facilitate weekly department meetings
  • Write and publish monthly blog posts
  • Capture, edit, and publish photo/video that reflect content of a variety of HHS programs
  • Capture content of ACU cases in alignment with ACU SOP (forensic analyst)
  • Capture content of Animeals, Homeless outreach
  • Provide administrative support to the marketing team
  • Collaborate with Development team and Marketing team to create impactful and exciting social media content for Instagram, Facebook Tik-Tok, etc.
  • Social Media content life cycle and follow-up reports on followers and signups on polls
  • Maintain timely communication with development team to ensures effective distribution of marketing materials.
  • Data entry i.e. photo uploads, and surveys related to development are tabulated and results collated
  • Update and maintain files in company database
  • Assist in special events initiatives
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
  • Conduct English media interviews
  • Capture, curate and edit branded video content 
  • Support PR media activation 

Supervision Received:

Work under the general direction of both the Marketing Manager & Assistant Marketing Manager and receive general supervision. Work independently to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.


Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Ability to speak/write Spanish fluently preferred 
  • A bachelor's degree, or bachelor’s degree in progress. Can be substituted by the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • 0-2 years of experience managing complex, quick paced marketing projects in business.
  • Highly collaborative style
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Video Editing Software.
  • Advanced proficiency in social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Tik-Tok.
  • Demonstrated ability in handling multiple priorities, project management and meeting deadlines; strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to work with others to accomplish goals.
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
  • Remains composed under stress; handles responses to constructive criticism tactfully and delivers on organizational commitments.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
