Dry Utility Infrastructure /Civil Construction Estimator

Dynamic Concepts, Inc., a emerging underground utility infrastructure contractor is seeking a Civil Construction Estimator. This position will provide estimating for all aspects of underground utility infrastructure construction. This person will prepare accurate take-offs and cost estimates for projects or contracts based upon construction plans/drawings and specifications. This person will provide knowledge of cost and value benefits that support profitable business decisions.


The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience in dry utility construction including but not limited to electrical, communications, and natural gas utilities with some construction management. Applicants must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous bid opportunities at one time, possess strong attention to detail, possess the ability to successfully identify and communicate exemptions and assumptions.


Duties Include

  • Previous experience with reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, existing site conditions and able to attend pre-bid meetings
  • Prepare bid documentation required for submittal
  • Coordinate scope of work with Project Manager and Subcontractors
  • Interface with Owner and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility
  • Ability to prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work to include all materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Excellent documentation skills maintaining files of working documents as backup for the estimated figures.
  • Assist in creating preliminary project schedules following awarded contracts
  • Coordinate the implementation of subcontracts with the Contract Manager
  • Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, qualify proposals
  • Develop and maintain subcontractor/supplier list. Actively increase subcontractor pool
  • Develop strong, professional relationships with key vendors and customers

Requirements

  • Experience with civil site development (earthwork, underground wet/dry utilities and flatwork)
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & take off software
  • High sense of accountability and ability to handle multiple priorities at once
  • Self-motivated
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented, cooperative, and collaborative
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of construction practices and methods including contracts, estimating, specifications, scheduling, safety, and equipment
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost
  • Must have experience with the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with the bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, using bid tally sheets, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical and mathematical skills, detail oriented, positive, and proactive attitude, working well with a team, analytical, and always willing to share or learn more
