Job Summary:
Participates in the preparation and distribution of all therapeutic menu items, special food orders, desserts, and cold foods contributing to the nutritional well-being of the patient. Assists on tray line when necessary.
$500 Sign on Bonus (*1 year professional experience required to receive bonus)
Principal Duties and Essential Functions:
  • Delivers meals to patients at bedside while following all necessary safety steps.
  • Prepares menu items, such as desserts, pastries, jello, custards, soft custard mix, and therapeutic diet menu needs in accordance with standardized recipes, producing only necessary amounts. Keeps waste and overproduction to a minimum.
  • Confers with the Chef, Cook, or Food Production Supervisor to ensure quality preparation and delivery of meals to the patients.
  • Inspects all menu items to ensure an acceptable appearance as judged by freshness, color, aroma, and texture.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, and work station following acceptable techniques.
  • Utilizes proper safety and sanitation techniques in preparation, service, and storage of foods.
  • Strong customer service and communications skills required; strong teamwork skills. Some lifting required.
  • Attending team huddles and department meetings is required.
  • Ability to take patient orders by telephone and input them into the electronic ordering system within a timely mannerwhile demonstrating strong customer service skills is required within 90 days of employment.
  • Demonstration of basic computer and technical skills (email, use of the hospital scheduling app, etc.) required within 90 days of employment.
  • Team player with the ability to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings and weekends). Some holidays required. Must be flexible and manage work flow during high volume.
  • Ability and/or willingness to cross-train in other areas of the food and nutrition department is preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager of supervisor.
  • Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of work experience in a food service environment preferred.
    Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Schedule: 3:30pm-7:30pm weekdays, weekends, and some holidays. Hours may vary.
