The Jamaica YMCA is seeking a Computer Instructor who will provide structured instruction and supervision forcomputer-based classes and activities. The Instructor will deliver engaginglessons in technology education, academic enrichment, and workforce readinesswhile fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment foryouths, transitional clients, and community participants.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants by providing active supervision during all program activities.
  • Deliver instruction in computer-based courses, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), tutoring, coding, digital media platforms, Photoshop, workforce, and financial literacy readiness skills.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, including sign-in/sign-out sheets, attendance records, incident reports, and accident reports, as appropriate.
  • Organize and maintain program supplies, materials, equipment, and lab spaces.
  • Actively participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and special events.
  • Foster a positive learning environment where participants remain engaged, collaborate effectively, and develop confidence in technology skills.
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Director to review lesson plans, participant progress, and program goals.
  • Partner with the Program Director and families to support participant growth and development.
  • Report concerns regarding participants, equipment, or facility issues to branch leadership in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching/instructing computer classes.
  • Current CPR or First Aid certifications.
  • Knowledge of, and experience teaching, Microsoft Word and Excel, coding, computer basics, digital platforms, and Photoshop.
