DESCRIPTION
Otterbein University, a comprehensive liberal arts institution, invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Computer Science to teach Database Systems in Fall 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach the in-person Database Systems course and be available for scheduled office hours (virtual or in-person). Course materials (prior syllabi, content, assignments and exams) will be provided.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: COMP 3600 - Database Systems: "The design and use of databases. Entity-relationship modeling, relational modeling, normalization, query languages (SQL), and relational algebra & calculus will be covered. XML language processing, object relational databases, and active databases may also be covered." COMP 3600 is a junior-level Computer Science course with approximately twenty students.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be hired, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field, completed by time of appointment, is required. The ideal candidate will possess good communication, leadership and organizational skills, and an ability to work effectively with students and faculty.
WHEN: The 15-week Fall Semester begins Wednesday, August 19th and ends on Wednesday, December 2nd, with grades being due December 16th. The 3-credit hour course is scheduled MWF 11:30-12:25 in the Art and Communication Building at Otterbein University (33 Collegeview Rd, Westerville Ohio).
