Are you a safe, dependable driver who enjoys helping seniors? We are looking for a compassionate Medical Transportation Driver to provide residents with a comfortable, positive experience while traveling to and from medical appointments.
This position is about more than driving—it is about offering patience, reassurance, and outstanding customer service during every interaction.

Position Title: Medical Transportation Driver
 

Overview: The Medical Transportation Driver transports residents in company provided vehicles to and from medical appointments. Medical Transportation Drivers will also assist as needed with resident transportation in scheduled activities. Reports to the Transportation Supervisor.

Full-Time Openings: 

  • Monday-Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Transport residents in company vehicle to and from medical appointments 
    • Physically assist residents into and out of vehicles 
    • Ability to lift wheelchairs and/or walkers into company vehicles when assisting passengers on and off buses/vehicles 
    • Obey all traffic laws and report violations to management immediately 
    • Adhere to strict schedule to provide timely service to residents 
    • Ability to transport residents to doctor appointments in an 8 or 16 passenger bus (as needed) 
    • Ability to communicate with elderly citizens in a respectful and patient manner 
    • Ability to remain calm and use good judgment in stressful or serious situations 
    • Promote and maintain professional image of The Village 
    • Knowledge concerning the location of physician / dental and medical offices 
    • Maintain cleanliness of company owned vehicles 
    • Adheres to company policies and procedures 
    • Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education 
    • Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information 
    • Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed 
    • Represent the organization through professional demeanor and attitude 
    • Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff 
    • Report any incidents and/or safety concerns to your supervisor immediately 
    • Perform other duties as required 

    CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE: 

    • Ability to drive all company vehicles 
    • Ability to operate wheelchair restraints, lifts, and ramps on passenger buses 
    • Punctuality with residents’ appointments 
    • Patient and pleasant demeanor 
    • Ability to physically assist residents into and out of vehicles 
    • Ability to work under stress in a calm positive manner 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills 
    • Able to work well with others, including staff, supervisor, residents, families, volunteers and the public 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Requires prolonged sitting and driving 
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds assisting residents with packages, wheelchairs, walkers in and out of vehicles 
    • Physically assist residents in and out of vehicles using both arms and back to steady and support 

    WORKING CONDITIONS: 

    • Clean and fully functioning vehicles 
    • some exposure to changing weather conditions when moving to and from buildings and vehicles 
    • Requires prolonged sitting and driving 

    You Have:

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
    • CPR & first aid certification 
    • Valid Florida Commercial Driving License: Class “C” or higher and passenger endorsement preferred 
    • Safe driving record and insurable under the company automobile insurance policy
