YOUR PURPOSE

The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for executing and optimizing member communications across Horizon Credit Union's digital channels. This role serves as the primary administrator of email marketing and marketing automation initiatives, managing one-time email campaigns, automated nurture journeys, audience segmentation, and personalization efforts. Working closely with design, copy, PR and social media teammates as well as other stakeholders, this position ensures member communications are timely, relevant, and aligned with organizational goals. This position also manages branch digital reader board content, oversees communications calendars, and helps drive efficiencies and strategic alignment across member-facing communication channels.


YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Email Marketing & Marketing Automation

  • Build, schedule, test, and deploy member email communications, including promotional campaigns, newsletters, operational communications, and event invitations.
  • Develop and manage automated member journeys and nurture campaigns within the credit union's marketing automation platform.
  • Implement audience segmentation, personalization, and dynamic content strategies to improve engagement and member experience.
  • Maintain email templates, content modules, and automation workflows.
  • Monitor email deliverability and campaign quality to ensure communications reach intended audience.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews, including links, personalization fields, audience targeting, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to transform marketing objectives into effective communication campaigns.

Communications Planning & Coordination

  • Maintain and oversee the marketing communications calendar across email and other member-facing digital channels.
  • Help establish communication priorities and timing to reduce message overlap and improve member experience.
  • Coordinate with copy, PR & social media teammates, and marketing leaders to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice.
  • Recommend opportunities to streamline communication processes and improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Support the development of communication strategies aligned with organizational goals, product promotions, and member needs.

Data, Reporting & Optimization

  • Manage audience lists, campaign segments, and data integrations used for communications and automation.
  • Assist with maintaining marketing databases and member communication preferences.
  • Track and report key communication metrics, including open rates, click-through rates, conversions, engagement, and nurture journey performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve campaign results and member engagement.
  • Support testing initiatives, including subject line testing, personalization strategies, and audience optimization.

Digital Signage & Member Communication Channels

  • Manage content and scheduling for branch reader boards and in-branch digital signage.
  • Coordinate messaging across signage, email, and other communication channels for consistency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure branch communications remain current, accurate, and compliant with brand standards.
  • Support additional digital communication platforms as needed.

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $27.51-$38.51. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate's experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements

EXPERTISE YOU NEED

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Media, or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • 1-3 years of experience in email marketing, digital marketing, marketing automation, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience working with email marketing or marketing automation platforms preferred.
  • Experience building email campaigns, audience segments, and automated workflows preferred.
  • Financial services or credit union experience is a plus but not required.

Capabilities
