Position Mission

FOCUS is a Catholic outreach whose mission is to share the hope and joy of the Gospel with college students and beyond. As our apostolate continues to grow, strong internal communication is essential to help our staff stay aligned, informed, and mission-focused.

Position Responsibilities

As our organization continues to grow, we're seeking an Internal Communications Manager to shape how we communicate our mission, strategy, and culture across the apostolate. This role will help ensure we have the systems, channels, and clarity needed to keep our staff aligned, informed, connected, and free to live the mission.

In this role, you will serve as a key partner in shaping and delivering organization-wide messaging. You'll translate priorities into clear, actionable communication, strengthen staff understanding and engagement, and build communication systems that scale with a growing and dynamic organization.

This is a highly collaborative role for someone who is both strategic and detail-oriented - a leader who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity, driving consistency, and helping teams communicate more effectively while strengthening our shared narrative and mission - all in a place where you can leave a lasting mark.

You'll play a key part in helping our staff stay aligned and focused on mission. By improving how we communicate, you'll help create clarity, reduce friction and free our missionaries and staff to do what they do best - share the Gospel.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and organize key messaging across the organization, including presentations, talking points, and all-staff communications (e.g., quarterly All-Hands meetings)
  • Serve as the primary liaison for departmental communication needs, gathering and synthesizing input across teams to drive alignment
  • Support and evolve the internal communications strategy based on data, feedback, and organizational priorities
  • Manage and continuously improve our weekly internal newsletter, including content planning, writing, and coordination
  • Strengthen employee understanding and engagement by improving communication channels, tools, and governance
  • Research and implement best practices in internal communications, identifying systems that support scale and effectiveness
  • Partner closely with the Director and senior leadership to ensure messaging reflects organizational priorities, mission, and culture

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to translate organizational priorities into clear, actionable communication across teams
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a desire to improve systems and processes
  • Experience with or willingness to learn tools such as Workshop, Smartsheets, SharePoint, and other HR/communication systems
  • Background in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Bonus: Experience in change management or navigating growth and organizational scale

Compensation & Benefits

For this role, we anticipate paying $55,000 - $75,000/year. This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.

Personal Mission Partner Development (MPD) is one way in which FOCUS invites others to be on mission with us through the gift of their financial support. In this position, you will engage in personal MPD efforts and fundraise on behalf of FOCUS. To thrive in serving the mission, the candidate will receive world-class training in this area and ample time to engage in their fundraising efforts.

As a FOCUS staff member, you and your family will have access to several benefits that are designed to help care for the whole person and make your career at FOCUS rewarding. You will receive:

  • Medical, Vision and Dental insurance
  • Ability to contribute to a Health Savings Account
  • Employer-provided life insurance
  • Long-term disability insurance
  • Option to purchase additional life insurance for yourself, your spouse and your child(ren)
  • 403(b) retirement plan with a discretionary employer-match for eligible staff
  • Option to purchase LifeLock Identity Protection
  • Integrity-based Paid Time Off
  • Paid parental leave
  • We observe many paid holidays recognized by fellow Americans and also some of the feast days of Holy Mother Church. In addition, we recognize the Sacred Christmas Respite by closing the office from December 24-January 1 each year.

Eligibility for benefits depends on the type of position you hold (full-time, part-time or temporary), and your tenure with FOCUS. Specific benefits may change at FOCUS's discretion.
