Job description

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We're passionate about making changes on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal, state and local policy.
We are seeking a TikTok and Communications Intern to join our energetic communications team to elevate the issues of health care, reproductive rights, and fairness in the workplace. We are looking for a "chronically online" digital native who feels comfortable in front of a camera as well as comfortable interviewing others, and keeps a finger on the pulse of rapidly changing social trends. The internship runs from September to December and operates in a hybrid in-person office environment in Washington, DC. In this role, you will acquire a broad background in communications strategy, hone technology skills, and participate in special projects with program staff. This is a great opportunity for students interested in a career in communications and/or digital media.
As a TikTok and Communications Intern, you will:
  • Create short-form video content and graphics for TikTok and Instagram to amplify our work and grow our social following
  • Research and maintain awareness of new media trends
  • Assist with reporter outreach and building media lists
  • Assist with compiling and organizing press clips and media mentions
  • Attend internal and external meetings including press events
  • Analyze content for current and potential social media opportunities
  • Assist with other comms department tasks when needed and depending on capacity

Qualifications
  • Interest or prior experience in communications and/or digital media
  • Experience with conceptualizing, pitching, shooting, and editing short-form video for TikTok
  • Strong understand of Tik-Tok trends, algorithms and what makes videos viral or well received
  • Ability to approach creative challenges with curiosity and imagination
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to manage multiple tasks for different projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media, and digital press tools; HTML, press release distribution systems, and Photoshop are a plus but not required
  • A commitment to the Partnership's mission to improve the lives of women and families by achieving equality for all women

Compensation
$17.95 per hour through June 30, 2026. Effective July 1, 2026 compensation will increase to $18.40 per hour.
Employment and Workplace Details
The internship runs from September to December. Start and end dates are flexible and will be set in advance of the interns first day. In those cases, a reduced schedule may be considered, but interns must still be able to commit to a consistent pre-set weekly schedule during our regular business hours Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET. This role requires sustained work blocks and is not designed for intermittent or short-interval availability. This is a Washington, D.C. based internship. Candidates must be located in the DC/DMV area during their internship and able to reasonably commute to our Washington, D.C. Office for required in-person days.
