Job Family STAFF - Support Staff Grade W4 Salary $14.00 - $15.34 Department Chemistry Reports To Laboratory Manager Closing Date Open Until Filled FLSA Status Non-Exempt First Review Date September 11, 2026
Position Overview
The Part-Time Lab Assistant is responsible for the set up and maintenance of all instructional laboratories, to include preparing solutions and cleanliness of the labs. Coordinates activities with the Laboratory Manager and faculty to maintain the labs as a safe scientific learning environment and provides support to the Chemistry Lab.
What you will be doing
• Maintains inventory of all Chemistry lab equipment
• Organizes instructional laboratories and prep area
• Sets up labs and collects the materials after labs are done
• Maintains equipment in working order
• Maintains cleanliness
• Maintains collection of MSDS sheets as assigned
• Tutors chemistry students
• Supports part time Instructors by providing them with all the necessary materials when conducting lab classes
• Coordinates with the Lab Manager to keep updated inventories of chemicals, equipment and supplies
• Ensures smooth operations of the labs
• Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
• One (1) year of college from a regionally accredited institution with some college science credits and one (1) year of related experience; or any combination of education and experience
• All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
• Knowledge of basic scientific instrumentation
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Excel spreadsheet development
• Possess excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
• Ability to interact and work well with students, faculty and staff
Additional Requirements
The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
