Position Statement:
The Overnight Break-Floater Youth Development Professional’s (OBF-YDP) primary function is to provide breaks for full-time staff; monitoring and maintaining continuity of care or service. The OBF- YDP is charged with providing a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. The OBF-YDP is scheduled in a manner that best accommodates the staff ratio and program coverage requirements, as it relates to providing meal and rest breaks. A regular, set schedule can be expected.
Responsibilities:
Float to identified Residential programs to cover 30-minute meal and rest breaks for each YDP
Teaching and fostering a resident’s skill development relative to his/her individual needs only during the times residents may be awake and in need of support during the time(s) breaks are being covered, if single staffed.
Interacting and intervening with residents following their treatment plans and Individualized Crisis Support Plan, only during the times residents may be awake and in need of support during the time(s) breaks are being covered, if singles staffed.
Maintain a physically and emotionally safe & supportive environment by:
Maintaining and providing a safe and secure physical environment for each resident.
Providing continuous supervision of residents.
Using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention de-escalation techniques (proximity, time and space, caring gestures, etc.), primarily and for only when urgent situations arise.
Develop and maintain appropriate and positive relationships with residents by:
Demonstrating appropriate social boundaries.
Having a non-threatening and supportive demeanor.
Perform other essential functions of the job, including:
Complete all assigned paperwork (case documentation, reports, shift logs, etc.) accurately and on time, for the length of time staff are on their breaks, if single staffed.
Provide regular, documented night checks when working the awake overnight shift, for the length of time staff are on their breaks, if single staffed
Report incidents of child maltreatment, neglect, and/or abuse.
Follow all agency and department policies & procedures.

Ability to walk up and down stairs several times per day.
Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required with this position.
Driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.
