Job description

Join our great team of Security Officers at Covenant Village retirement community.  We have a part-time 2nd Shift weekend position available.  Hours are 16 hours per week: Saturday and Sunday.    Part-time benefits include paid time off, participation in 403b retirement, awards and recognition, professional development opportunities, Wellness Center privileges and more. 

Our Security Team provides a secure and safe environment for all Residents, Employees and guests of Covenant Village.  The main responsibilities include: 

  1. Patrols the entire building on a non-routine basis.  Checks all floors of each wing, laundry rooms, trash rooms, storage rooms, fire exits, public areas, and public restrooms. 
  2. Patrols cottages on a non-routine basis in the Security cart.  (3rd Shift may use the Covenant Village company truck and complete the mileage log.) 
  3. Investigates and reports any suspicious people or activity. 
  4. Completes proper paperwork: Daily Report, Case Report, and/or Incident Report. 
  5. Contacts the Director of Security and/or Gastonia City Police for any apprehension. 
  6. Confers with the Nursing Department during shift for any information.   
  7. Unlocks exterior doors at a set time.  
  8. Secures all exterior doors and offices at set times.   
  9. Turns fire logs on and off at set times. 
  10. Fills in for the Medical Transportation Driver, when needed. 
  11. Follows all Code Red Procedures – Security’s role.  Listens for announcements, assists in locating Code Red, assists with any residents as needed, assists in combating the Code Red as needed until the Fire Department arrives. 
  12. Monitors security camera system for suspicious activity. 
  13. Maintains a professional, friendly, efficient, and spirit of service toward residents, employees, guests, and visitors.
  14. Maintains confidentiality and respect for residents and employee privacy.
  15. Creates an environment of pride and quality among all employees, encouraging them to achieve their highest potential.
  16. Champions the mission, vision, and CV CARES core values of the community with all employees, residents, families, and guests.
  17. Adheres to all Covenant Village policies and procedures.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by management in a cooperative manner.
  19. Completes all assigned training by the deadline.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience in security or law enforcement, preferred.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to work every weekend.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Excellent communication, resident relations, organizational skills, customer service orientation, and leadership ability.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and as a collaborative and supportive member of a team.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking long distances, ability to lift 75 pounds at times, balance, climb, crouch, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop, adequate dexterity in hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.  Individuals will be exposed to inside and outside conditions and may be exposed to chemical, Bloodborne Pathogens or other hazardous materials; however, proper training and protective devices will be provided.
