Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Clean and disinfect surfaces in accordance with District health and safety guidelines.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and properly dispose of waste.
• Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as assigned.
• Set up, move, or arrange furniture and equipment for school activities, events, or meetings as directed.
• Assist with minor building maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, reporting facility issues, and addressing basic repairs within assigned scope.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals according to training and manufacturer guidelines.
• Secure building areas as assigned, including locking doors and ensuring facilities are left in proper condition.
• Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and the public.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the head custodian, principal, or administration.
Small School Custodial Responsibilities
• Work independently in a small-school setting with limited on-site supervision.
• Complete assigned custodial and grounds maintenance duties within the approved daily work schedule.
• Perform basic grounds maintenance around the school building and property.
• Maintain the appearance and safety of sidewalks, entryways, playground areas, and exterior spaces by removing litter, debris, weeds, or other hazards as assigned.
• Assist with snow, ice, or debris removal from entrances and walkways as needed to help maintain safe access to the building.
• Monitor and report facility, playground, irrigation, grounds, pest, exterior building, or other maintenance concerns to the appropriate District supervisor.
• Coordinate custodial work respectfully around classroom instruction, student activities, and school operations in a small-school environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma, adult high school diploma, or G.E.D.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a school or public building.
• Knowledge of proper use of custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products.

Job Description
Millard School District is accepting applications for a Part-Time Custodian at Garrison Elementary School. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and functional school environment in a small, remote elementary school setting.
Because Garrison Elementary operates with limited on-site staff, the successful applicant must be able to work independently, manage assigned duties efficiently, and communicate maintenance or facility concerns to the appropriate District supervisor. In addition to routine custodial duties, this position includes basic grounds maintenance responsibilities.
