Part-time Class A drivers often encounter variable schedules, including early mornings, weekends, or last-minute shifts. What is a Part Time Class A Driver?

A Part Time Class A Driver is a professional truck driver who holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and works less than full-time hours, typically transporting goods or materials using large vehicles like tractor-trailers. These drivers may work for freight companies, logistics firms, or other businesses that require the movement of cargo, but on a flexible or reduced schedule. Part time positions can include local, regional, or sometimes long-distance routes, depending on the employer’s needs. This role is ideal for those seeking work-life balance or supplementary income while still utilizing their CDL skills.

Can you do CDL work part time?

Part-time CDL work is available for Class A drivers, often involving flexible schedules or specific shifts. However, many trucking companies require drivers to work full-time hours to meet delivery deadlines and maintain safety standards, so part-time opportunities may be limited depending on the employer and route needs.
