Job description

Coordinator Reconciliation and First Communion (19 hours per week)
Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church (OLGC) is located in Plymouth, MI, committed to the New Evangelization. Our vision is "To offer every person in our community a life-changing encounter with Jesus." One of the keyways we will succeed in achieving this vision is through the Family Sacramental Coordinator position. The coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of opportunities for family formation in the context of First Communion and First Reconciliation.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic leader, with an expressed joy in the Lord whose servant's heart is demonstrated as a lived faith in all endeavors within the parish. The position is regular part-time and reports to the Director of Discipleship Formation.
Responsibilities:
Office:
• Meets weekly with the Director of Discipleship Formation and team members to discuss needs and activities.
• Collaborates & brainstorms with Discipleship Formation Team and Parish Team.
• Maintains sacramental database and tracks progress and attendance for 1st Communion/Reconciliation prep classes and events.
• Maintains 1st Communion/Reconciliation webpage.
• Looks for inroads to incorporate/implement family formation opportunities.
• Ability to work remotely and in-person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, Zoom, Google Meet, Flocknote
• Works within First Reconciliation & First Communion fiscal year budget.
Faith Formation Programming:
• Attendance at CONNECT and EDGE to support programming (ie., brainstorming, improvements to be made, and general support)
• Submits bulletin articles to Parish Relations Coordinator as needed.
• Attends, organizes and assists Director of Discipleship Formation with Catechists Support; Catechist enrichment sessions, Catechist Celebration, and Catechist Professional Development
• Resource library at church; keep resources current, promote catechists and school religion teachers.
• Assist and support the Becoming Catholic for Kids program.
• Implements Family worship opportunities.
• Attends Vacation Bible School.
• Involved in Parish Mission.
Sacraments:
• Coordinates all aspects of First Communion & Reconciliation programming, always mindful for family formational offerings in regards to these sacraments.
• Develops and facilitates meetings, retreats, 2nd gr. Check-Ins, Masses, services, programs and practices related to sacramental preparation.
• Obtains and organizes materials, volunteers, for sacramental events.
• Communicates and collaborates w/ OLGC School teachers and campus minister regarding sacramental preparation.
• Supports Catechists and Teachers in sacramental years via; visiting classrooms (be open to teach a lesson), recommending resources, providing sacramental schedules and information.
• Review curriculum annually.
• Assisting in parish and school transition to a sacramental readiness model.
