Job Classification: Full-time/part-time, at-will, hourly non-exempt

Salary range: $22 - $25 per hour; commensurate with experience

Children's Choice is a well-established Preschool with locations throughout San Diego County. We are looking for an experienced and caring Preschool Teacher to oversee the classroom curriculum program following company guidelines and collaborate with the assistant teacher. The lead teacher is responsible to prepare age-appropriate lesson plans, create a welcoming and safe learning environment for the children, manage the classroom and coach the assistant teacher.

The ideal candidate is passionate, patient, has excellent communication skills and is comfortable interacting with parents and addressing any of their concerns. The Lead teacher will follow all company and licensing rules and reports to the Center Director or the Assistant Director in her absence.

Responsibilities:

  • Early Childhood Educator: instruct preschool-aged children by following company selected curriculum (Zoo-phonics; training will be provided)
  • Planning weekly Lesson Plans that correlate with themes.
  • Keep the classroom clean, neat, and organized following company policies and standards of care. Including inventory of classroom materials.
  • Comply with all licensing rules and consult with the Director when unsure.
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis utilizing the ProCare app, on the child's progress, daily activities, and when challenges/concerns arise.
  • Coach and guide assistant teacher with clear instructions.
  • Ensure children are always supervised in all spaces both inside and outside.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age – minimum.
  • At least 12 Early Childhood Education units, must include: Early Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Infant & Toddler; and any other Child Development class (i.e. Program & Curriculum, Child Health & Safety, etc.)
  • At least 2 years' experience as a preschool teacher
  • Pass DSS Background check.
  • Willing to learn software applications and is adaptable to change.
  • Current Mandated Reporter Certificate.
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certificate.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Able to work occasional overtime if needed and attend scheduled staff meetings after-hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; able to sit on the floor and/or stand for extended periods of time.
