The Gift Shop at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is seeking a part-time associate to help customers feel at home while they explore our inspiring selection of gifts, books, and devotionals.


The Gift Shop Associate serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable presence, assisting shrine visitors with our faith-centered merchandise and providing an environment that reflects the values and mission of the Catholic Church. This position supports the spiritual needs of our Shrine and community through hospitality, sales assistance, and maintaining the shop’s appearance and inventory.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service in a respectful, faithfilled manner

• Assist customers in selecting religious articles such as rosaries, crucifixes, books, sacramental gifts (e.g., for First Communion, Confirmation, Baptism), statues, and seasonal items

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process sales transactions accurately

• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment

• Receive and stock merchandise; assist with inventory management and restocking shelves

• Provide accurate information about Catholic products, devotions, and liturgical seasons

• Support special orders or requests for sacramental items or religious literature

• Assist in decorating and arranging displays in accordance with liturgical seasons

• Work cooperatively with volunteers, clergy, and parish staff to ensure a positive environment

• Follow opening and closing procedures, including counting cash drawers when applicable


Qualifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior retail or customer service experience preferred

• Knowledge of the Catholic faith, liturgical calendar, and sacramental life is strongly preferred

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends or holy days as needed

• Ability to lift and move boxes or merchandise up to 25 lbs.

• Basic computer and POS system proficiency.


This is a part-time (20 hours per week), on-site, hourly position. Every other Saturday and some evenings are required. The salary range for this position is $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. Candidates that meet these qualifications should submit a resume and cover letter detailing any retail or customer service experience.
