Job description

Interlochen is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Cash Receipts Clerk to join our Finance team in a part-time role working 24 hours per week. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily financial operations of the institution through cash handling, payment processing, deposits, account support, and customer service for students, families, and employees. The Cash Receipts Clerk serves as a key point of contact for tuition and student account-related questions while ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately, confidentially, and efficiently. Ideal candidates will bring strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to provide compassionate and responsive service in a fast-paced, mission-driven educational environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Cash handling - maintaining and balancing cash drawer
  • Data entry - tuition / personal account
  • Process tuition payments
  • Process donations and miscellaneous deposits
  • Provide customer service to parents and students
  • Assist with billing, collections and daily bank deposits
  • Open and sort mail
  • Process student withdrawals
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Complies with ICA policies/procedures and acts as a good steward of ICA finances.
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all students, their families and the community.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of one year of cash handling and customer service experience required.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Familiarity with Mac laptops, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer, adding machine, phone, copier, credit card machine, and money order writer.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and tactfully regarding tuition and financial matters.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and responsive customer service to students, parents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to promote and maintain positive interactions with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in financial processing and data entry.
  • Demonstrated respect for cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and linguistic diversity and values, including differences in personal goals, lifestyle choices, and varying family backgrounds and histories.
