Hornig Companies seeks a part-time Buildings and Grounds Technician to respond to work orders in Chaska.


What would my responsibilities include?

Grounds:

• Landscape installations: seeding, digging, planting, etc.

• Lawn care: mowing, trimming, mulching, weeding, clearing brush, watering, plant care, etc.

• Building cleaning: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning light fixtures, cleaning windows, cleaning baseboards cobwebs, etc.)

• Snow removal: shoveling, spreading snow melt and sand, ice control, etc.

• Home Office grounds upkeep: lawn maintenance, shrub grooming, salting, shoveling, etc.

• Pick up building grounds

• Coordinate the movement of lawn and snow removal equipment as well as supplies distribution between properties


Building Assistant:

• Turnover cleaning: completing and following through on all deficient items on the turnover checklist

• Cleaning apartment trash-outs: cleaning units where residents have left behind furniture, debris, etc. Includes the disposal, packaging and storage or removal of the items prior to turnover cleaning

• Storage room cleaning & upkeep

• Water extraction

• Mice extermination and other pest extermination as needed. To be supported by contracted pest control services

• Small engine ongoing maintenance: Perform light maintenance as needed and oversee the seasonal tune up/tune down of all machines including but not limited to oil changes, spark plug changes, etc.

• Act as backup to Home Office personnel in notice distribution

• Fall clean-up and other seasonal projects assistance as needed


Misc Duties:

• Responsible for some cleaning responsibilities; including but not limited to trash pickup, cleaning window glass, mopping, carpet spot cleaning or shampooing, cleaning counters and appliances

• Proper care and cleanliness of company-owned vehicles and equipment

• Promote safety and follow all safety rules. Ability to safely use all snow-removal, lawn and landscaping tools as well as follow safe work practices in all job duties

• This position may include light maintenance; for example: replacing light bulbs and blinds.

• Perform position responsibilities with cost effectiveness in mind at all times and be efficient in work practices

• Meet daily with supervisor/or assigned Portfolio Managers

• Attend company meetings as needed

• Special projects as assigned by supervisor, Portfolio Managers, VP of Property Management, COO or owners

What should I bring to the team?

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator license (CPO) within 2 months of employment
  • Some knowledge of operating light machines like snow blowers, lawn mowers, trimmers or carpet cleaning equipment
  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s License and meet car insurance requirements
  • Ability to stand, lift and bend for up to 8 hours (with breaks) in hot/cold and wet environments
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to operate applicable phone applications for work orders, time allocation and information look-up
  • Multi-housing experience is a plus!
