Overview

Looking for a fun and supportive work environment this summer?  Do you enjoy having a wide variety of tasks and being outside? Join our summer team at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA! Located on nearly 1400 forested acres in the Town of Becket, nestled within the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA camp which operates programs serving hundreds of campers.  Boasting over a century of tradition, our industry leading programs include the Chimney Corners Camp for girls, Camp Becket for Boys, the Travel and Service Programs (domestic and international), and Becket Day Camp.

Hours:  This is a seasonal summer position operating within a residential camp setting. Consistent with applicable law governing seasonal camp employment, this position is classified as exempt from overtime pay requirements. Hours and schedule based on programmatic and organizational needs. 

Pay: $45/hour commensurate with experience, skills, and certifications

Responsibilities
  • Lead construction project/s for summer program as determined
  • Provide instruction to campers for the construction cabin program and as directed
  • Assist property team to complete work orders and repairs in various areas such as carpentry, construction, mechanical work, and general maintenance, as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive and customer service-oriented attitude, contributing to the success of a seasonally focused operation
  • Reporting to the Property Director, work closely in collaboration with the Camp Director as requested for scheduling
Qualifications
  • Some experience in construction, carpentry, and facilities maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability in using hand and power tools in an effective and safe manner.
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physically active work in varying weather conditions.
  • Current driver's license with clean driving record and have a reliable ability to travel to and from work.
  • Must pass background clearances and provide proof of recent medical physical & immunization records as required by MA regulations.
  • Must be willing to commit to the business needs of our operating season from June through August
