Join our dedicated team as a Part-time Security Guard, where you'll play a crucial role in preserving the sanctity of this cherished space. Safeguard worshippers, art, and history while fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Armed Security Guards are responsible for ensuring the protection of the Cathedral's staff, visitors and property, in a courteous and restrained manner. Guards must be self-motivated and able to maintain a safe and secure environment during religious services and special events in a discreet and consistent manner.


Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining order, observing services, and looking out for the welfare of congregation and tourists.


Answering questions, giving directions, and offering assistance to guests, as necessary.


Conducting foot patrols of interior and exterior of Cathedral property (around 25% of time outside).


Assessing situations and making logical decisions on how to proceed within procedure, law and statute.



Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age with 5 years' experience in Law Enforcement as a Level 1 Peace officer, or military equivalent (prefer within last 10 years).


Possess own approved sidearm and duty leather.


New hires are required to hold or obtain a City and County of Denver Security Guard (Armed) License before beginning work. The Cathedral will reimburse costs associated with obtaining and maintaining licenses. Requirements for the license include: Completion of 16-hour City and County of Denver specific security guard training class (completed within last 60 days) Certificate of Physical and Mental Fitness Completed by your Doctor (completed within last 60 days)


FBI Background Check (within last 60 days)


Affidavit of Criminal and Employment History


Firearm Training Completion: Classroom training and Live Fire qualification with passing score of 80%


Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with a diverse community.


Ability to handle high-pressure situations with a calm and decisive approach.


Physical Requirements:

Be able to walk up and down stairs and ramps, both indoors and outdoors.


Visual acuity both near and far, manual dexterity with good eye/hand coordination, good hearing and speech.


Standing walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and squatting also will be required as necessary to perform the duties of the position.


Position requires ability to lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight.
